The joke of the day : Sarah

Let me share a joke with you all ^^
This was my conversation with some random caucasian

Him: "Oh & do you know where's Orchard Plaza?"
Me: " sorry i don't know. " Flashes an
embarrassed smile.
Him: "Oh it's fine . Thank you. Thank you Sarah"
Me: "No problem"
I looked all over myself in search of
any name tag that i forgot i was wearing -
After he left, i spoke to Andrea.
Me: "Andrea, just now those caucasians they know my name!
Why ah?" -Agitated voice
Her: "huh how come?!"
After a glance at my neck,
Her: "Eh, of course laaa SARAH look at this!" - Points to my neck
Me: "Oh, haha i forgot ! Sorry =.="
Her: "You ah..... Zzz =.=" Haha Lol"

Haha, i'm so extremely blur can =.=" !!! Anyway, this isn't the first time i wondered why strangers know my name & i am really a laughing stock zzz - it's all because of the friendship necklace my dear FIDES gave me - that i wear every single day that i am so used to it i totally forgot its existence ! Does it make sense? Anyway, yes that's me - blur blur me zzZ.

So...... let me share with you my working experience the past few days; or rather this vacation.

10th to 13th - Comex roadshow exhibitor, level 6 Chamoxa
15th - On site job at Toa Payoh
Weekdays starting 16th - Admin duties in Sim lim Square - Office (Still holding this job during the weekdays at this moment)
22th to 23th - SIM institute Sapura technology booth, distributed free ice creams & took loads of pictures for the passerbys & not forgetting for myself *winks* ; play guitar hero.
4 consecutive weekends from 29 Aug - Apple event in town @ respective shopping malls.

Thus, this vacation had been an enriching one - til now. The events i'd worked in are pretty much fun but they are tiring at the same time. T.T Well, you can't expect the best of both worlds at the same time right? So yup, the good thing about the Comex job was the basic $$ was considered high and the commission was easy to hit. The admin duties in the office every weekday was alright too - but it's extremely bad for my eyes. Imagine facing the laptop the whole day & counting stocks & making adjustments the whole day?? Furthermore, i think there's something in the office that my body doesn't like because everytime i enter into the office my nose & body & everything else start going against me. (Like having fever, running nose, body ache etc at the SAME time. ) But still, my duties are very much simple so overall it's still fine. The only thing that makes me grumpy is the low salary ): The best part is my boyfriend's salon is situated in the building just right in front of sim lim square so i can pop over anytime i want to peep at him !

Sapura technology SIM booth was extremely slack & fun ; we didn't have targets to hit but mainly we only had to interact with the guests & bring them over to the booth to have fun! Loads of vainity pictures had been taken the two days i worked there - jump over to my fb to see them :D Okay, so let's come to the last one - Apple event. This is by far the most tiring job i've had this vacation - as billboard girls. It annoys me how some people can just be so evil as to ignore me when i passed them those flyers. Let's wait til a day it's their turn to distribute & we'll see how they suffer. Tsk tsk. So yup, but the good thing is..... they pay pretty well..& tomorrow's the last day so pay day will be here soon ^^ Yay.
So as a whole, you may say that i am slogging my guts out every single day working it's hell tiring but on a happier note, life will be easier with all the extra money i earned. I'm loving my life now, although i don't have much time with my boyfriend but we still get to meet sometimes and i'm contented with what i have :) Not much complaints on that side :)
On a sidetrack, i really miss all my dear friends whom i haven't meet for very extremely long! Dionis, Sheila, Daphni, Xueqi, Zhihui, Liming, Jiahui, Joanne, Jasper, Weeliang, jianhao you all! I truly hope that we will get to meet soon, even when we're busy with our own things ):

& To all my dear friends,
The only thing i'm hoping for my birthday is ......................
.... SHOES!! Namely sneakers or high heels !

Haha opps , shameless me ! ><
I'm still in need of events lobangs, please be kind & inform me if you need girls :D
Bye!

Lynching

Did i tell you that my sis wanted my study table so i had to downgrade to a smaller study table? Well, then i had to clean up my new table and while i was tidying my table, i came across an assignment i did in secondary school 2 years ago.

An inflammatory cartoon that was used as evidence in the civil trial resulting from Michael Donald's murder.

Ever heard of the Poem - Strange Fruit?

Ever wondered in other parts of the world, how far has racism got into?

Ever imagined how many people had been killed due to racism?

Strange Fruit : A Poem
Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
,Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.
Here is the fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

"Strange Fruit" is a song performed most famously later on by Billie Holiday. It condemned American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans that had occurred chiefly in the South but also in all regions of the United States. Here's another incident that was credited to racism.

The Death of Emmett Till

Words and Music by Bob Dylan1963, 1968 Warner Bros.

Inc Renewed 1991 Special Rider Music

Twas down in Mississippi no so long ago,

When a young boy from Chicago town stepped through a Southern door.

This boy's dreadful tragedy I can still remember well,

The color of his skin was black and his name was Emmett Till.

Some men they dragged him to a barn and there they beat him up.

They said they had a reason, but I can't remember what.

They tortured him and did some evil things too evil to repeat.

There was screaming sounds inside the barn, there was laughing sounds out on the street.

Then they rolled his body down a gulf amidst a bloody red rain

And they threw him in the waters wide to cease his screaming pain.

The reason that they killed him there, and I'm sure it ain't no lie,

Was just for the fun of killin' him and to watch him slowly die.

And then to stop the United States of yelling for a trial,

Two brothers they confessed that they had killed poor Emmett Till.

But on the jury there were men who helped the brothers commit this awful crime,

And so this trial was a mockery, but nobody seemed to mind.

I saw the morning papers but I could not bear to see

The smiling brothers walkin' down the courthouse stairs.

For the jury found them innocent and the brothers they went free,

While Emmett'sbody floats the foam of a Jim Crow southern sea.

If you can't speak out against this kind of thing, a crime that's so unjust,

Your eyes are filled with dead men's dirt, your mind is filled with dust.

Your arms and legs they must be in shackles and chains,

and your blood it must refuse to flow,

For you let this human race fall down so God-awful low!

This song is just a reminder to remind your fellow man

That this kind of thing still lives today in that ghost-robed Ku Klux Klan.

But if all of us folks that thinks alike, if we gave all we could give,

We could make this great land of ours a greater place to live.

And this isn't a poem invented anyhow, the words are mere descriptions of the sufferings of this poor little boy. The rosewood massacre see the hometowns and habitats of the blacks being burned down and the minority who survived were left with no choice than to leave their hometown and seek refuge in Florida. When they did so, the whites returned and burned their homes down without a trace. With racism, Not only were most Africans accused and killed/lynched, the white who stood by them lost their lives as well. As a result, most of the good-natured whites and innocent blacks could only stand by and watch, they didn't dare to stand up for justice because then, they themselves would be lynched. There were so many incidents, Emmet Till, Tulsa Burning and others. I feel that these actions are so intimidating, so intriguing and it still continues to horrify me til now. And the fact that the kkk still exists frightens me, why has rasicm been raised to such a level that so many lives have been sacrificed and even now as a minor, it still exists ?

Take a look at some of the causes of their deaths (285 cases) :

Unknown cause 92

In short, these reflect how selfish human beings can get - and it's scary, it's extremely unsettling. I truuly hope for peace in the whole world - be it school peace; career peace, or just peace and equity among the different races.

She's a typical kind of girl

That day she came into the office to collect her salary, she obviously had seen me but apparently, she acted like she didn't know me. i wanted to say "Hi" and "Bye" to her but she rolled her eyes at me. Boss asked "Eh, why you all didn't talk at all? " And i'm serious that i don't know what's wrong with her.
then i realise....
Sometimes, it's just difficult to please everyone. Even when you haven't do anything wrong. And most of the times, women are defeated by jealousy. Girls too.
These few days passed by really fast because i had worked my whole week away. It was raining yesterday so Bong and i had to stand in the drizzle and unlucky enough, most bypassers didn't even bother to get those flyers from me. They are not sympathetic at all . However, we did managed to distribute most of the pile of flyers thus this afternoon, we left at 3pm (3 hrs of work for today!) and i've just decided to join my mum and sis in attending a wedding dinner later on in the night. Next weekends we will be situated at Orchard Central and we have 5,000 flyers to distribute. Hai, i hope all of you who reads this will drop by and conveniently grab some of those killer flyers for me because I'm very confident that Orchard Central doesn't have much shoppers.
So I have a casting tomorrow at Euro Asia Court but i really don't know the directions to that place ?! Anyone wants to help over here? Then as usual, Tuesdays onwards i will be working in the office at Sls (hopefully) and it's good because i get to conveniently pass by dearest's workplace for a short meet up :)
Okay, and i'm still waiting for Fides dearie to revert her email back :/ I miss her T.T That's all for today i'm going to get myself dolled up for the dinner later :D

P.S/ CHEERIOS to you being so RESPONSIBLE sis.

Comex It fair

Ever heard of IRadio Pop? I wouldn't have heard of it if not for my work. Wonder why there haven't been news of me? That's because i had been busy slogging my guts out in the it fair at Suntec Convention few days ago. I anticipated a very large crowd for this fair but however, the crowd was pretty small - even in the last day. I suppose it's to do with the economic crisis few years ago? Anyway, aren't you curious what i had to promote in the it fair ?!!

In short, they are the mini jukeboxes, internet radio and some x-mini capsules... Personally, i love the internet radio ! I think it's an innovative product and luckily, the creators are smart to think of this or else this remakable product wouldn't have been invented at all :/

Basically, it allows you to get access to other countries' radio stations. There are over 15,000 channels & over 500 participating countries in total ! Needlessly to say, this includes common countries like Japan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, India, Thailand etc... Brilliant isn't it? It's very compact like a thumb drive so it's very convenient to carry around - pop into your bag. And heres' a sneak peek of the media player itself. For more info, please log on to here.

Meanwhile, the overall sales for the mini jukebox were better than the iradio in this fair. I think it's due to the fact that this jukebox is smart enough to read & play media files directly from thumbdrives & SD memory cards. Not many speakers can do this. Not to forget line in & out from Pc, handphone, Mp3, Ipod, even Iphone is compatible with this jukebox. It's very mini and lightweight - like, say 500g only? so it's definitely handy for parties and occassions/gatherings :D Furthermore, the rechargeable battery can last you for up to 9 hours - with a 4 hours full charge that is. Lastly, it comes with a cute looking remote control so it appeals to most of the consumers and indeed, people love it! :D

In a sum of 4 days, my sales was pretty alright considering the fact that the crowd for this show wasn't fantastic. I worked with a lady who was in my same school, same year and same age. She's in media & Com while i'm in business but we do share the same building and canteen so i guess we must have past by each other several times before. Shes' someone i hope i wouldn't have to work with again if i can choose because she belongs to the category of girls who like to snatch sales and claim it's their sales. Really. I'd pretended that i didn't mind but she wasn't remorseful at all. So on the last day, i was very alert and stood beside the customers i served. This pretended her from snatching , obviously. Her actions are really =.=" and i wasn't the only one who feels this way. Even the other sales girl from Smarttel - whom i chatted with during lunch asked me "Eh, that eyelash girl likes to snatch sales one huh?" She claimed that she'd seen her snatch my sales and feels that she's a girl like that - it's like an impression she gave others with the image she portrayed. Apart from her, i think it was enjoyable working with the Smarttel salesperson as well as with my boss - who was very nice at all times. So i must admit that i'm pretty lucky :D

Hoho~ And dearest had been sweet, he accompanied me throughout these four days and took care of my little sister while i was working. There's no reason not to fall in love with someone as dear as you, wennhan :D Seee you later baby!

Nightmare :/

Few days past with the bullet train & its' time to blog again.
I had been busy, and i presume this week is gonna be that busy as well with Comex.
That day, i met up with yh in search of a new pair of heels/wedges with the $$ dearest gave me.
We shopped around far east plaza madly and in the end she bought wedges while i bought heels - & I'm totally mad in love with the heels :/ Thank you dearest !!!!!!!! :D
I have been so broke that i couldn't even afford those heels, yet. Hence, it became his present to me ! We took a few pictures together that day and i love the picture posted above. He looks so innocent and pretty boy-like , yup? :)
The past few weekends it was the same garageband '09 event, except that we had to stand literally outdoor under the sorching sun & as a result, i'm DARK now. It's sickening to get sun-tanned so easily and it irritates me ; i love heading to the beach to get a tan but i'm no fan of getting a tee-shirt tan. It's fugly , especially when the shape of that uniform i wore wasn't fab at all.
To conclude, these few days had been fruitful ; i've learned many things and also accepted a lot other things. At this moment, i'm just pretty curious when my results will be out. Anyway, i've just came across this poll :
