Bangkok Trip

Hello <3 Relationships aside for now. It's been a long while, as mentioned earlier i'm going to pen down an entry on Bangkok trip with the cool peeps in case my memory fails on me :)
It was an early flight, Wennhan and i reached the airport at 10am. We met the rest except Dennis (who went back to get his passport) and grabbed some light breakfast to supposedly save our stomach for a sumptuous spread at bangkok hours later!

There was drama during the check-in process because Wennhan's passport was expiring in 3 months' time and the check in criteria for a passport is at least 6 months from date of expiry. Unfortunately, he couldn't come with us. I was devastated because it was a trip that we looked forward to for months, it was gonna be our first trip together and i was sure he looked forward to it more anxiously than i did because the previous night he slept way too early and woke up surprisingly earlier than me (Usually he's quite a sleep log, he can sleep for 12 hours and always turns up late for work) It was a painful 1 hour which we tried all means to get the jet star staff to issue him a temporary permit which he could use. But all that was to no avail. They were strict and firm with their decision. I had to bid him goodbye and leave with the others (luckily it was a trip with them, if it was a honeymoon trip i bet i would have given it a miss !) He went to his hometown to visit his relatives and the 4 of us went in to board the flight.
Guess it wasn't a lucky day for us, the flight was delayyyeed. until 12pm. We sat down and made plans on our trip. Then we started doing something we girls are good at in nature ...

Once again, flight was delayed to 1pm. We were all damn sianxzzz at this moment... But, continued to while our time away..

So the flight continued to delay for 2 more times and finally the last delay at 3pm. We spent the whole morning + afternoon waiting to get to Bangkok asap to start on our shopping spree!
I met one of my colleagues there with his wife and friends, met another cool and hippy auntie who travelled with a group of teenagers - she requested for one of the girls to take Wennhan's seat. Eventually we realised that they checked into the same hotel as us! Haha! Voila! Foreign country, foreign hotel but same nationalities and took the same flight! So coincidental! In the plane, we continued doing what we're best at - ..
Yuting is so skinny look at her jawline! >< We came to realise that flight was delayed because the air-con of the plane wasn't functioning and they took a whopping 4 hours to repair it... But it was all worth it because it was really cold in the plane, i was like *omg freezin'* ! The flight took us 2-3 hours and by the time we reached our Bangkok, it was already night time..
There weren't many places we could go particularly because the shopping centres in Bangkok closes really early- 8pm that is equivalent to 7pm local time.. The airport was pretty well-decorated but some parts still seem a little run down, i took a few pictures of the artwork pieces displayed there but i couldn't spare a few more because we were kinda already rushing by then...

The search for our hotel was tough and the area surrounding it was under construction it was unaccessible we had to alight a road further and walk in ourselves..

But we felt it was money well spent because the hotel didn't fail us at all! So what do you expect for $150 for 4 nights?
*drumrolls* presenting to you, our Tango Living Place !!
Cleaniness, check. Accessibility, check. Aircon, check. LCD TV, check. clean toilet, check. Housekeeping, check. Overall standards: for a 3 star hotel i would rate it as 3.8/5. If only the construction of the road was completed even before we arrived then i would probably give it a higher rate.

The starving 4 then went around the area searching for a place to dine at - as we were new to the place, we didn't know where to go. Platinum mall was already closing by then and the nearest would be the night market near us.. The search lasted for at least half an hour and we chanced upon an eatery which somehow resembles a typical coffee shop 'zi char' in Singapore..
Here's what we ordered: (first meal at 8pm GMT + 8 time)
Can you see the egg omelette? It looks kinda tasteless here but ironically, it tastes really good! Better than Sg's 'oh jian' i would say.. It's besically Singapore's version of 'oh jian' but excluding the 'flour' part..
The Tom Yam was so good! Now i feel that Singapore's variation of Tom Yam kinda sucks - i mean, the ones i've been to.. None of it really surprise me yet...I took a picture of the shutter beside our seats, guess it was another foodcourt which isn't open at night?

Went to familarise ourselves with the area after dinner and checked out platinum mall's closing time followed by some Thai massage which has nothing for me to rave about and hoolala~  back to hotel to plan next day's itinerary..

The 2nd day, we woke up at 9am local time (10am sg time) and headed straight to Platinum mall - hella fruitful trip down! Looks like herman wasn't lying at all when he said it's a woman's paradise! A wide range of apparel you'll definitely find yourself indulging in Shopping like never before! From head to toe, it has practically everything - but a word for caution, the bags sold there were anything but cheap! They were overpriced! Head there for cutesy cheap shorts (i bought at least 10 pairs of those), cheap shoes? and there's a foodcourt at the uppermost level which serves food of all kind - hongkong, Singapore blabla... you have to purchase a card which is akin to Singapore's kopitiam card to purchase and a bowl of noodles is around SGD$ 2 - cheap and good! We skipped breakfast just to shop and had our early dinner (or late lunch?) there.... At night, we bought take-aways from the foodcourt and gathered in our hotel room to makan ^^

The 3rd day, we went to platinum mall again as few of us had to change some sizes for our apparel ( and i tried tuk tuk for the first time in my entire life!) The experience is ............. beyond words but very thrilling haha ! The driver was really funny and weird, he kept comparing his 'tuk tuk' with any racing car he sees on the road.. And he'll overtake those cars and laugh out loud... Like really LAUGH OUT LOUD! zzz.
Next we headed to MBK/Siam Square/ Plaza 21? (can't really remember the name) I would say MBK is tha place to buy your bags! I bought a handful of bags from those 199BT shops!! The bags are different from the ones Singapore's Bugis street offers, the quality is much better? Harder, not as filmsy; looks more fashionable ; sturdy too! The bag below carried by me was bought there, okay i know it isn't a clear representative but i will *convinces myself* will take a picture of all my beloved bags again and post it up! (Btw, the blue boyfriend shirt, cutesy denim shorts and pinky shirt were bought there too !)

Actually we wanted to have some desserts at a dessert place named "Mango Tango" but after  1 hour in frantic search of the place, we were told it wasn't in Siam Square but in Platinum mall's foodcourt. Quite a pity but don't worry, i'm sure there's a next time Sarah!  Pratunam mall was our next stop, i bought many accessories, shoes, heels and lingerie there! It's something like 'Fu lu shou' kind of shopping mall, a little dilapidated but a lot of hidden shopping deals :) For dinner we bought take-aways from those random street stalls - Wanton mee, Charsiew mee, Tomyam wanton mee & Ma Muang etc.. Look at us hungry people!
The 4th day we went to City Complex, a wholesale mall just opposite Platinum mall - it's a mall which supposedly supplies the Cha-tu-chak night market and they have a whole wide range of woman's apparels as well - Jeans, working skirts, lingeries, tops, nightdresses, heels etc.. All available at wholesale price if you purchase a certain quantity and more. The jeans are especially affordable here & i would recommend you girls to head over to city complex to get your jeans instead of Platinum mall although platinum mall's considered already cheap. One pair of jeans that Yuting bought costed her 160BT ( SGD$7.30) in city complex and one pair of jeans costed me $250 (>SGD$11) in platinum mall. Of course, different designs and different brands! We did last minute shopping again at Platinum mall and on the streets - had lunch at A&W in the IT mall beside Platinum mall.
EDITS: Something happened that night we reached the hotel..
Something that will freak anyone out...
A ghastly experience you can ever imagine..
Any idea?
That night Herman was in our room chatting with Yuting, i was wrapping my 'bomb' (Haha! It's the chilli paste i bought for mum!) and Dennis was in his room alone doing -i have no idea what- when suddenly, SUDDENLY, the lights went off. LITERALLY THE WHOLE BUILDING - LIGHTS WENT OFF. It was so scary, the 3 of us were like "Omg/? Our room blackout? Can call hotel staff or notz?!" Then I glanced out of the window and realised that the whole vicinity was experiencing a black-out due to the heavy rain which tripped the electricity power. We were all damn shocked and at loss because it was our first time experiencing a blackout in a foreign country and the only thing we knew was that we should stick together. We're all in this together! <; Herman then said " I think i go find Dennis, he's alone in the room" but then he couldn't find his shoe! It was extremely dark and eerie in our room and there wasn't any source of light at all. The only light was the 'Exit' door light which seemed to worsen our fears.. So Herman had no choice but to wear our bedroom slippers and *walks away* Within 5 steps, Dennis appeared right in front of us. Barefooted. Holding a electrical kettle. Looking confused. So what was he doing before the lights were shut? He was refilling the kettle with water in the toilet when the lights went off and he was so shocked that he came down barefooted to find Herman. Lol. I mean, of course the first thing you'll do is look for your friend right?! As i said, all in this together?! Then the 2 of them left us and went to their hotel room. Yuting and I were still laughing at Dennis when a dead silent room left us terrified and Yuting exclaimed " I think we should go look for them. How can they leave 2 girls alone.." And i replied " Yah, i'm damn scared ):" So we left our hotel room for theirs.
When we reached the third level, we stood outside their hotel room and shouted for them. No answer. We knocked on the door and found out that the door was not locked!? By then, the atmosphere was so intense and silent that i could hear my own heart beat in the room. I went in first, still calling up to them while exploring the extremely dark room (To make it worse, their room wall's were filled with full length mirrors! You could imagine how terrifying it was ! I hate looking at mirrors in the dark because the reflection i sees scares me inside out, it's always a dark figure with a blur face and features it doesn't look like me in any way except that it's really just a dark shadow!) There was no answers at all. By then, the two of us were freaked out already "Why is their door open? Where are they? Where have they gone? Why didn't they lock their hotel room? Did something happened to them? " Nobody could answer us. We proceeded back to our hotel room...taking the stairs..
Halfway down the stairs, we met them! So they came over to look for us and sort of forgotten to lock their room. It was an eerie night but as long as we all stick together, we'll all be fine. Herman then came up with a quirky idea (as usual) "Whole area blackout that means the night market must be in chaos now? Haha, we can go down and 'kop' their stuff they wouldn't even know who took it right?! Since it's so dark and all. " So we went down only to realise that the night market was the other part which wasn't affected and the guys headed for thai massage. What a freakish and hilarious experience!

By then we came back to hotel, penniless and poor 4 had to buy take-aways from 7-11 which the staff heated up for us, the take-aways were really delicious! We had some small sausages, cocktails, char siew paus, fried chicken drumlets (which Herman and I bought from the street in the afternoon but it was still yummy! Better than A&W's! ) I bought the green curry pack and i'm sure they are even better than Thai Express's green curry (Well, not that Thai express' food is anything to rave about anyway.. ..)
Check out the me distributing sausages!!!

A late dinner left us full and satisfied so we had to find something to do to kill those calories we gained. Guess what we did? Yes! Unpack all the stuff we bought and lay them on the bed! *proudly exclaims* Picca Picca session!!!!!
Lemme present to you what we have bought ...
*warning: below scenes are not for the faint-hearted, pregnant or any passengers with heart problem*
HAHA See! I told you they will give you a deep vein shock! See see see! Look at all the bags i bought! My sister told me the pink bag on the top left is the current trend among Sg youngsters now and she almost (i said, almost! not successfully!) stole it away from me! From the White heels in the middle  onwards to the left, everything is mine! The rest are Yuting's :) Notice some similarities? Yeh, There certainly are because Yuting bought those items after me - Haha, cause' i have good taste~ ! :)
The trip ended quite well - Hotel arranged for us to cab down (6-seater because we had too many things!) to the airport :) I came with one starved bag, left with 2 fat bags! The flight back was very smooth, no delays in between but i really hate the turbulence while on the plane, it really hurted my ears man!
That's all. Concluding this with a picture of vainpot me! Yes, the cutesy short below is one of those shorts i bought from Bkk! It's only like $8SGD and the material is satin?! Yay. love my wardrobe-full of shorts.
Yes, i love myself. I admit that!
